Discovering Nice

The first stop for anyone arriving in Nice should be The Colline du Chateau. Overlooking the Baie des Anges and the harbour, from here you will find spectacular views of the city on all sides. In case you do not want to walk, you can use a lift to get you on your way up the hill. This beautiful park with children's play area and scenic waterfall is a fantastic place to escape the busy streets and relax.

Between the sea and the palm trees, take a traditional stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, which has been a celebrated promenade along the Mediterranean since the 19th century. Nowadays the promenade comes alive with sunset strollers, bikers and post-work joggers. Enjoy the buzz of the promenade with a glass of wine from one of the cosy restaurants overlooking the sea. Having a cocktail in the elegant Negresco bar, is a wonderful experience.

At the southern side of the promenade, you can visit a beautiful botanic garden park - Phoenix Park. With an inner zoo, swan pond, fountain, and some attractions for children there are plenty of things to explore! (Entrance fee of 3 euros).

Stroll through the Old Town

One of the Nice’s biggest treasures is the old town - Vieux Nice, part of a heritage preservation scheme. Here you will find great Mediterranean architecture, baroque-style palaces and churches, colourful facades and narrow streets with lovely boutiques and local markets.

Art & Museums in Nice

As a city with strong cultural background there twenty museums and municipal galleries as well as a large number of private contemporary art galleries and artists' workshops. If you are art lover head to Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, where you will find a great selection of French and American art pieces from the 1960s to the present. Plus, there is an amazing view from the top of the museum! Near the old city part, is a beautiful residential neighbourhood of Cimiez with some of the best museums in town such as Musée Marc Chagall and Musée Matisse.

Beaches in Nice

Make the most of the pleasures of the sea! With nearly 10 km of beaches stretching from the Bay of Angels, you can choose between 20 public and 15 private beaches according to your preferences. You won’t find powdery white sandy beaches in Nice, beaches here are strewn with large pebbles (in French - galets) worn smooth by many years of wave action. These stones brought from the mountains to the coast have become Nice's natural heritage.

If you are visiting during peak season and don’t want to join the crowds get yourself a lounge chair & sun parasol at one of the private beaches. The Castle Beach, Opera and Beau Rivage Beach are one the best of Nice's private beaches - here you will have chilled drinks delivered to your chair as well as excellent food options. If you dream of sandy beaches, head to Villefranche, Cap d’Ail or Beaulieu-Sur-Mer.
